Dr. Suzanne Paradis, PhD

President, Co-Founder and Head of Research

Professor and Principal Investigator | Department of Biology and Program in Neuroscience

Brandeis University

Dr. Paradis leads an independent research group focused on identifying genes that control brain development and their impact on neurological disorders. Over a decade ago, Dr. Paradis and colleagues discovered the potential of the Sema4D protein to rapidly promote inhibition in the brain. Since then, a major research focus in the lab has been developing a novel epilepsy therapeutic based on Sema4D. Scientific discoveries in the Paradis lab are disseminated by publication in leading scientific journals. Research in the lab is funded by the National Institutes of Health and private foundations such as CURE Epilepsy and MassVentures.

Dr. Paradis holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biology from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard University. She completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of California, San Francisco, and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Paradis is a recipient of a Career Development Award from the Society for Neuroscience and a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. She is a biology professor at Brandeis University.
